Walnut Grove Marina
has been a family owned
and operated boating
facility since it was
founded 60 years ago.
The opportunity to build
a marina in Walnut Grove arose from frustration local farmers had about a poorly maintained
levee protecting the East side of the town.
The decision
was made to construct an east levee about 300 feet from
the original levee.
This created a no-man's land filled with water between the
two, which gave rise to the idea to create an off-stream
marina on the site. Today at low tide, one can still see the remains of the original levee peaking above the placed
waters of Snodgrass Slough.

Since the beginning, only three families have operated the
Walnut Grove Marina, with the latest being the Vroomanís.
Ray and Arlene Vrooman together with their children Lisa,
Gary and Steve took over the marina nearly 30 years ago.
Since that time the family has continued to operate and
grow the marina into one of the largest in the Delta - today it houses over 250 boats.
It is said that the three most important things needed for a
successful business are location, location and location.
Walnut Grove Marina sits at the gateway to the world famous
Delta Meadows Recreation Area. This river delta area is home to the most beautiful and unspoiled riparian habitat in the entire
Delta. The boater can journey back in time when plying the waters of the Meadows, Lost Slough, Railroad
Slough, the Mokelumne
River or Snodgrass Slough.
When you need anything related to boating, it is just a stone's
throw to Walnut Grove Marina and all the support services you
need.
This area of the Delta is a "must-see" for anyone who enjoys
boating and the beauty of nature undisturbed. So come and visit us for an unforgettable boating experience.
